Information We Collect
You provide: name, username, email address, password (stored hashed), profile photo, book club activity, reading progress, posts, comments, chat messages, reactions, mentions, and media you upload or select.
Sign-in providers: If you use Apple or Google sign-in, we receive information they share with us (such as name, email, and profile photo) according to your settings and their policies.
Automatic: device type, operating system, app version, push notification token (if enabled), session tokens, and basic logs needed to operate and secure the Services.
Third-party lookups: When you search for books or GIFs, we send queries to services such as Open Library, Hardcover (hardcover.app), Google Books, and Klipy to return results.
How We Use Information
We use information to create and manage your account, provide book club and spoiler-gated discussion features, deliver notifications you enable, send transactional emails (such as verification and password reset), maintain security, improve the Services, and comply with law.
We do not sell your personal information.
How We Share Information
With other members: Your profile and activity in a book club (including reading progress, posts, comments, and chat) are visible to members of that club.
With service providers that help us run the Services, including hosting and database (Convex), email (Resend), authentication and notifications (Apple, Google, Expo), and book or media lookups (Open Library, Hardcover (hardcover.app), Google Books, Klipy).
When required: We may disclose information to comply with law, enforce our terms, protect users, or in connection with a business transfer.
Third-party services have their own privacy policies.
Website Cookies and Analytics
Our marketing website at quillt-app.com uses cookies to keep the site working and, with your consent, to understand how visitors use the site.
Essential cookies are required for core website features, including remembering your cookie choices. These cookies are always active.
Analytics cookies are optional. If you allow them, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the website and improve Quillt. We only load Google Analytics after you accept analytics cookies.
Marketing cookies are not currently used on the website. If we introduce them in the future, we will ask for your consent before using them.
Your cookie choices are stored in a first-party cookie named `quillt_analytics_consent` for 12 months. After that period, we will ask for your consent again.
You can accept all cookies, reject optional cookies, or manage each cookie type using Cookie settings in the website footer. Withdrawing analytics consent disables Google Analytics and removes Google Analytics cookies from your browser where possible.
Google processes analytics data according to its own privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
Push Notifications
If you allow notifications, we may send alerts about mentions, replies, reading activity, and unread messages. You can change notification settings in the App or disable them in your device settings.
Retention and Deletion
We keep information while your account is active and as needed to operate the Services and meet legal obligations.
You can delete your account in the App’s profile settings. We will remove your profile, credentials, posts, comments, chat messages, uploaded media, reading data, and related account information. Deletion may take a short time to complete. If you are the only admin of a book club, you may need to transfer admin rights or delete the club first.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us. Depending on where you live, you may have additional privacy rights under applicable law (including GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws). We do not sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No system is completely secure.
Children
The Services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. Contact us if you believe a child has provided us information, and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will post the revised version in the App and on our website and update the date above. Continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
